THE BARRIERS AND CHALLENGES FACED BY STUDENTS IN ONLINE EDUCATION DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN PAKISTAN

Abstract

The global wave of COVID-19-pandemic has adversely affected the education sector. All educational institutions in Pakistan have been closed and are moving towards online teaching. However, researchers are not clear about the barriers and challenges that will be faced in implementing online system? This study has examined barriers and challenges faced in Online Education during COVID-19-Pandemic in Pakistan. Using a cross sectional research design, data were collected via online questionnaire from sample of 708 from the public sector university of Pakistan. The data were analyzed through descriptive & inferential statistics. Results revealed that students faced barriers and challenges like problems with the technology, lack of the training, low motivation, resources constraints and low computer literacy. Such findings are in the concurrence with the previous literature. This study strongly recommends that government should take proactive steps in overcoming barrier and challenges as faced by students. Government should give funds to the universities for updating their technologies required for online education.
